About

My name is Chris Bibbs.

Web and graphic design started out a hobby for me when I was in junior high school back in 2001. My first web design experience? Tinkering with the AOL Homepage.

Wow, that was long ago.

From there, I graduated into creating websites from scratch using HTML, CSS, and PHP. I built my first website two websites as a professional in 2008. One was for a friend’s fledgling independent film studio. The other was for custom made insulated coolers. After a little bit of a layoff thanks to a career in the automotive industry, I made web and graphic design my primary occupation since 2011.

I graduate with a BBA in Finance from the University of Houston in 2015. However, before that, I was an architecture major. One of the major influences on my life as a designer has been the architectural functionalism of Frank Lloyd Wright and the modernism of architects such as Phillip Johnson and I.M. Pei. It shapes everything that I do as a web and graphic designer.

I work exclusively in WordPress. Don’t get me wrong, I can still put sites together from scratch, but I just simply choose not to. WordPress is an incredible platform, the perfect platform for marketing sites, membership sites, and smaller e-commerce websites (under 500 items).

I generally only do graphics as part of a larger web design project. As of November 2015, I no longer take on stand-alone graphic design projects, unless you are an existing web design client.

I have a three step process: assessing your needs, planning a solution, and executing the plan.

  • Assess

Each project starts out with a thorough needs assessment. What are you selling? What message are you trying to communicate? Understanding your needs, wants, and goals is paramount to successful project.

  • Plan

Next we start the planning phase. How is the website going to function? How is the logo going to look? What kind of branding and identity materials are you going to want developed?

  • Execute

Let’s put the creative process in motion. The website gets built. The business cards and brochures get designed. We are putting into motion our plan that will meet your wants and need, and hopefully accomplish your goals.

    Theme Developers: Stop the Overkill

I stress to every client that I have that I create a customized theme for every project. I don’t work with premium themes. In fact, I have never used a premium theme. And there’s a reason for it. I would say that a good chunk of theme developers know what they’re doing. They develop a theme that syncs well with | Read More

    Doing Too Much

Anyone that knows me is well aware that one of my favorite bands is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I guess in a way it should be fitting that one of my favorite musicians ever, Michael “Flea” Balzary, the band’s bassist, follows what should be a more prevalent philosophy among musicians. Basically, whatever he does on bass serves the purpose | Read More
